Today, they take babies from mothers. They cut federal spending for social programs and they give permanent welfare to the rich. They penalize those of us who want to get our education by making us sign criminal loan terms that cause us to remain in permanent indentured servitude. There is so much hate. They create hate and division by exacerbating tensions, never wanting to get to the root of problems. They think that by distracting us, we’ll forget that they’re trying to skew the balance of power in their favor because the only way things are supposed to work in our society is to benefit them. We are all pawns unless we have the money to play and to change the rules. Hmmm. America is based on capitalism, and capitalism requires winners and losers. There is no in-between.
So we work every day, and we grow tired. Too tired (scared) to turn on the tv. Too tired (scared) to go to a rally. So we work and sleep like sheep, hoping one day the nightmare will be over. Until we realize, ten years later, that the nightmare is still ongoing, because we’ve been spending the past ten years trying to sleep it off. We are held captive to the dream that we never attain, because we remain paralyzed in this nightmare world, wishing and sleeping, but never waking.
